Lilac Bench

Furniture / Product · 2025

A study in contrast: precise, linear structures meet the softness of hand-stitched foam. Muted lilac bodies carry deep aubergine cushions, a quiet interplay of tone and texture.

The rigid, architectural form seems to deny emotion, yet the act of creation tells another story. Beneath the surface, hidden elements are sewn into the fabric, obscuring the raw essence of plastic and challenging the notion of material honesty.

The bench continues what the stool begins. Its cushion is placed asymmetrically, breaking the linearity and allowing the piece to adapt to how it is used: it conforms to its surroundings, shifting between function and aesthetic presence. Set together, the two align their cushions into one continuous seating surface; apart, each stands as a meditation on materiality and transformation.

The rigid, architectural form seems to deny emotion; the act of making tells another story. Hidden elements are sewn into the fabric, obscuring the raw essence of plastic and challenging the notion of material honesty. On the bench the cushion sits off-centre, breaking the line and leaving the piece to shift between function and presence.
